STEMI collaborates with companies to develop cutting-edge tech programs that bridge the gap between Memphis schools and the tech industry. The DNA of our approach is community project-based learning. For example, students have previously developed AI conversational systems (chatbots) for Memphis community organizations such as the Greater Memphis Chamber, The Works, and Greater Imani Church. These impactful and memorable learning experiences connect students, schools, and local companies while equipping students with marketable skills for their future careers.
Our middle school AI curriculum with Infobip Answers has been co-created in collaboration with the industry partner Infobip, tech unicorn and global leader in communication. The AI Curriculum covers the foundations of AI, large language models, prompting, AI and ethics, machine learning, and natural language processing, preparing students for the future. Work-based learning is implemented through a community project-based approach where students develop chatbots, AI assistants, and agents for local organizations.
The Learning Experience Platform (LXP) Stemi LAB is the most flexible educational platform for modern work-based learning. It provides a deep and engaging educational experience, surpassing traditional Learning Management Systems (LMS). The all-in-one, cloud-based solution eliminates the need for downloads, installations, or third-party software. All necessary tools are embedded within the platform, making it a unique educational software product suitable for every classroom. The leading editor with automated code review supports multiple programming languages and offers features like block and syntax coding, automatic grading, and an integrated Scratch editor.
The Personalized AI Tutor Martin is tailored to the specific needs of each classroom, providing a safe and customizable Large Language Model (LLM) solution. Designed to assist students in their learning journey, it adapts to individual learning styles, ensuring an engaging and effective study experience. Martin offers real-time support and personalized feedback, making learning more accessible and enjoyable.
Additionally, it provides learning progress insights and analytics, transforming interactions into actionable information to continuously improve the educational experience. School's personalized AI tutor works in two dimensions: (1) **School customization:** This dimension focuses on tailoring the AI tutor to the specific needs and values of each school. It incorporates data about what the school is passionate about, its connection to the Memphis community, and the desired personality traits of the AI tutor, ensuring it fits seamlessly into the school environment. and (2) **Student personalization:** This dimension personalizes the AI tutor for each student by integrating their interests, hobbies, and academic data. It ensures that the AI tutor provides a customized learning experience that aligns with each student's unique profile and learning needs, while the new version of Martin will also include Data Analytics & Math personalization on Tableau, enhancing data literacy and fluency.
A two-day training session before the program starts. The first day equips educators with skills to integrate AI + Data into the classroom, covering foundations of AI, prompting, data literacy, and analytics techniques. The second day prepares teachers to guide students as they are developing AI and data-driven solutions for community partners.
